Jetson Hoverboard Vs. Hover 1 (Difference and What It Means for Ownership)

I have owned a couple of hoverboards since turning adult, not because I really needed them but because I just love to own different ones. I can name a few favorites – the Jetson Hoverboard and the Hover 1. These two hoverboard manufacturers design excellent machines that could ride on any surface and fortunately, they last longer too.

However, spotting the differences between these two manufacturers is not easy. Since I have ridden on hoverboards made by the two manufacturers, I’m in the best position to tell you their differences, pros, cons, and everything you need to know about them. The difference between Jetson and Hoverboard is the range. But, are there any more differences than similarities? Find out in this article.

What Are Hoverboards?

Hoverboards or self-balancing scooters as most people call them, are portable, two-wheeled electric-powered personal transports. You can cruise around the neighborhood and take short trips on these powerful, popular machines. Hoverboards don’t really hover like many had anticipated from watching Back to the Future. Instead, they feature sensors, lithium-ion batteries, microprocessors, gyroscope, motor, and pressure pads that enable the user to move around while mounting them.

All the components mentioned above work together to control the power of the hoverboard, so the ride is moving at a regulated, yet constant speed. The rider’s feet are suspended on the platform between the two wheels. The platform is big enough to accommodate the rider, so that he/she doesn’t feel choked.

How does the hoverboard work? The two wheels have separate gyroscope and tilt/speed sensors. When you mount the machine and tilt your balance forward, the gyroscope communicates with the logic board the direction of your movement. The logic board then sends the data to the motor, which propels the wheels and generates the power to move the hoverboard and you. When you are not tilting, information is passed across the components again, and the board will cease movement.

You can find three main models of hoverboards: The Classic, Off-Road, and Self-Balancing models. These hoverboards are built with the same concepts, but have slightly different features. The Classic type has 6.5 wheels and possesses a body style lacking a smart balance mode. Off-Road features a bigger 8+” wheel and powerful motors that can pretty much handle anything. The Self-Balancing type has a self-balancing mode that keeps the board level to the ground for movement.

These fun transports came into the scene in 2013, and quickly became the favorite for kids and adults. While the craze has somewhat subsided due to the fact that they are no longer novel and regulations, kids and some adults still love to ride them.

Part of the reason the craze died down was the poor state of the battery incorporated into them then. Hoverboards used cheaply-made batteries that at one time burst into flames in 2014. However, the industry quickly swung into action. Now, hoverboards use UL certified standard batteries, which makes riding them safe and fun too. Thanks to this standardization, it has become easy to separate quality hoverboards from junks.

Why Own a Hoverboard?

Now, enough of the technicalities. Why would you spend your money on hoverboards and how economically viable are they? I admit that they can be pricey, but when you look at the health benefits, then owning one is worth it.

Many will tell you the best way to maintain a healthy life is to exercise, eat proper diets, and hit the gym on the regular, but that’s not all. Riding hoverboards has become a method to stay fit and live healthy. So, it’s not just fun to ride them, but also therapeutic to some extent. According to research, hoverboards are known to help improve the body’s reflex, posture, and are an effective way to burn calories.

Hoverboards can help improve mental health by retaining your focus. When you mount the hoverboard, your upper part aligns with the lower part, which allows you to concentrate on where you are going. The continuous movement also improves brain activities. This is how it helps you to attain a high level of concentration.

Hoverboarding is an effective exercise for the whole body. Compared to certain exercises that only improve one part of the body, riding a hoverboard can effectively work on your entire body. By riding it, it helps straighten your back position and prevent you from having a humpback. Through the continuous movement of the muscle, parts of the body, from the wrist to the shoulder, the legs and feet to the knees, etc. The incredible thing about riding hoverboards is that you don’t have to feel bored or exhausted while doing it, unlike going to the gym.

To top it all, hoverboards are a cheap means of transportation. In a time where living costs are rising due to the Covid-19 pandemic, one needs to find cost-effective ways to reduce daily expenses. Hoverboards can help you with this goal to some extent, as you don’t need to spend money on gas and maintenance. They are eco-friendly and easy to use.

Note that riding hoverboards don’t sit well with some country and state laws. In the United States, for example, New York prohibits hoverboards. In California, the laws restrict age, speed limit, and areas for use. Other countries that regulate hoverboards as of the time of this publication are; Germany, The Netherlands, Scotland, England, Australia, Wales, and Hong Kong.

With hoverboards and their benefits explained, let’s dive into the main topic of discussion – the difference between Jetson Hoverboard and Hover 1.

What is a Jetson Hoverboard?

Jetson Hoverboards are described by many to be one of the most rugged hoverboards available in the market, and I agree with that. Jetson hoverboards can take on most surfaces, be it the pavement, dirt, grass, etc. Their tires are well-treaded, large, unbelievably lightweight, and grippy enough. The motor is powerful enough to handle inclines smoothly too.

The interesting part is their batteries, which can last more than seven miles on a single charge. If you are lucky enough to see where you could charge it on the go, you can travel between two districts and take short trips.

Jetson offers a wide range of high-quality, sleek, and UL certified hoverboards at great prices. From casing to controls and to batteries, Jetson ensures that its consumers enjoy the best rides comfortably.

What is a Hover 1?

If you want a sleek hoverboard with the latest gadgets, Hover 1 has them all. Hover 1 is a New Jersey-based company that manufactures incredible, stylish, and UL certified hoverboards. Their products consist of fantastic designs built for every consumers’ budget. They provide a fun way for people to travel around the city.

Hover 1 allows you to listen to your favorite music while on the move, thanks to the included Bluetooth speaker. In addition, their hoverboards can reach high speeds and have an auto-balanced feature that makes mounting and disembarking easier.

Why Should You Buy Jetson Hoverboard or Hover 1?

Jetson Hoverboards are ruggedly built to withstand any surface. They are great for any weather condition. So, if you live in an area with unstable weather conditions, Jetson hoverboards will be your choice.

The range is also impressive. The hoverboard covers 15 miles in sixty minutes, but it could reduce if there’s too much weight on the board, which will create a resistance. Battery life is incredible too, as most Jetson hoverboards use HQ Lithium-Ion Samsung batteries, which offers the best longevity. The range, robustness, and battery life should convince you to purchase Jetson hoverboards.

Hover 1 hoverboards are built with powerful motors that ensure smooth braking. While they are not very good for off-roading, their braking capabilities are excellent. They are water-resistant as well. So, they can survive a little bit of water splashes.

Hover 1 hoverboards also have weight limits. These hoverboards are targeted at people with a weight limit of 250 lbs. Anything above that limit will harm the board and its components.

Jetson Hoverboard or Hover 1 Differences

The main differences between the Jetson hoverboard and Hover 1 are range and robustness. While Jetson hoverboards can take on several road types due to their well-treaded tires, Hover 1 hoverboards can only survive a few road surfaces.

Though both use Lithium-Ion batteries, Jetson hoverboards have better range than Hover 1 hoverboards. With a Jetson hoverboard, you can ride more than 15 miles in an hour. Hover 1 hoverboards can only guarantee a ride of between 7 and 10 miles in an hour under favorable factors.

Jetson Hoverboard or Hover 1 Pros

Jetson hoverboards have excellent range. When fully charged, the two-wheeled vehicle can travel for up to 15 miles in an hour.

Hover 1 has an excellent braking system due to the inbuilt motor.

Jetson Hoverboard or Hover 1 Cons

Jetson Hoverboards can barely accommodate so much weight. The weight limit doesn’t exceed 200 lbs.

Hover 1 can take weight up to 250 lbs, which is what most riders weigh.

How to Make Your Decision

Deciding which one to go for will depend on your preference. Do you desire a hoverboard with good range and braking? Do you want to own a hoverboard with the latest gadgets and designed for adventurous rides? Although the two hoverboards will offer you maximum pleasure as you ride it, answering the above questions honestly will lead you to the right choice.

Finally

Like scooters, hoverboards are great means of transportation. They are cheap compared to four-wheeled vehicles, emit far less carbon, and can cut down on expenses. They are beneficial to health as well. In case you want to burn some calories and improve muscular coordination, opt for hoverboards instead.
